Two parallel activities shall be organized within the framework of ICT-Hanoi 2008: The ICT Industry Issues and Challenges Forum & the ICT Research and Development Symposium

ICT Research & Development
Symposium

The ICT Research and Development Symposium 2008 is an official event of the second Hanoi Forum on Information-Communication Technology (ICT-Hanoi 2008). This Symposium ICT-Hanoi 2008 will bring together researchers, developers, and practitioners to share their original research and development results, their problems and concerns, and to establish or to improve the collaboration between them.

Topics
The symposium has a focus on Natural Language Proceesing (NLP) and Software Engineering (SE). The topics of the symposium include but are not limited to:

Submissions

Submissions of abstracts and papers must be done by e-mail. An extended abstract (not longer than 200 words) and full paper should be submitted before the deadline extended to Ocober 10, 2008. Papers should be written in English and used a template of the VNU’s Journal of Science (can be downloaded from the ICT-Hanoi website www.hanoiforum.vnu.edu.vn).

General Information on Hanoi Forum on ICT 2008

 I. Hanoi Forum on ICT

1. Aims: This forum is to bring together scientists, engineers, practitioners,managers, businessmen, government leaders, etc. from countries aroundthe world to share knowledge and exchange their experiences, discussthe challenges, the opportunities, the solutions, the best practice/application models and the roadmap for the information andcommunication technology (ICT) development in Vietnam; especially onVietnam ICT human resources development and national ICT capabilitybuilding. The forum's aim is also to provide opportunities forparticipants to report on the state-of-the-art technology as well ason-going research on all aspects of the ICT from theory to practice, topromote academic-industrial links. The ultimate aim is to make aworthy contribution to the development and application of ICT inVietnam, thus contributing to Vietnam’s socio-economic development inthe years to come and realizing the Vietnamese Government’s most nobleaim: to become an industrialized country by the 2020.

2. Objectives: To identify the visions, directions, strategies, solutions, and roadmap for ICT development and ICT applications in Vietnam;To forecast the ICT human resources needs, especially when Vietnam has become an official member of WTO; To identify the visions, directions, strategies, solutions, programs for ICT human resources development and ICT capability building; To provide a platform for scientists to share views and ideas from all sectors of information-communication technology; To strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation ininformation-communication technology between Vietnam and othercountries, especially Korea and regional countries; To promote the study and development of information-communication technology in the Southeast Asia region and the world;To contribute to the development and prosperity of the human beings.
